Gala Music is launching 3,003 NFTs on April 14, with an unreleased version of David Bowie\u2019s 1983 song “Let's Dance” in a limited edition collection of nonfungible tokens<\/a> (NFTs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A previously unreleased version of “Let's Dance” by David Bowie has surfaced in a limited edition collection of nonfungible tokens (NFTs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gala Music, a subsidiary of the Web3 startup Gala Games<\/a>, has collaborated with music producer Larry Dvoskin and music publisher Warner Chappell Music to distribute a previously unreleased version of David Bowie's 1983 song “Let's Dance” as part of a limited edition collection of NFTs. The announcement was made on March 6th, Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his lifetime, David Bowie produced an impressive discography consisting of 27 studio albums, 11 live albums, four compilations, and 128 singles. Despite passing away in 2016, the singer-songwriter has at least one unreleased composition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gala Music intends to release 3,003 NFTs featuring artwork inspired by David Bowie on April 14, forty years after “Let's Dance” was originally released. Each NFT will grant its owner access to an unreleased version of the composition that Dvoskin and Bowie co-produced in 2002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NFTs will be available for purchase on a “pay-what-you-wish” basis, and the initial proceeds from sales will be donated to MusiCares, a charity that provides health and human services to music industry professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next week's release will not be the first time the Bowie estate has utilized blockchain technology. In September 2022, the Bowie estate collaborated with the OpenSea NFT marketplace<\/a> to launch a collection of non-fungible tokens dubbed “Bowie on the Blockchain” to raise money for charity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, this collection was heavily criticized by Bowie's supporters, who regarded the artist's foray into blockchain technology as contrary to his principles and beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
