The Binance network has been complaining recently about various news outlets and projects disseminating misinformation about the exchange. Their most recent cries are against AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to recent reports, Binance now asserts that ChatGPT, an AI, is spreading false information about the network. Changpeng Zhao <\/a>purportedly has ties to the Chinese Communist Party, according to the AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Binance tested AI by posing some questions to it. The particular AI that distributed false information linking the head of Binance to CCP was GPT-3.5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Binance tried two additional GPT-related models, though, and they yielded the right solutions. A fictitious AI-created discussion included in the GPT-3.5 claimed that Zhao had worked for the China National Petroleum Corp <\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>in the 1990s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AI seems to indicate a false LinkedIn page with the name Zhao when asked to identify the source of its information. Additionally, the AI offered a 2018 Forbes web link that was not verified. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The website link was formerly accurate, however it claimed that the article's author was the former journalist and investor Pamela Ambler. No one from Forbes or Ambler was prepared to respond to inquiries regarding the veracity of the page and the story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the rumors disseminated by the AI and others have been refuted by Binance. For instance, a representative for Binance pointed out that the company's CEO would have been a high school student in the 1990s, when the AI claimed CZ worked for a petroleum company. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Strategy Officer at Binance, Patrick Hillmann, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is especially sad to see this type of misinformation being shared by a few people in power when it would have been debunked with even the most basic level of fact-checking.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Hillman said that it is working hard to understand the impact of the technology in its platforms to empower users as they learn about the limitations of AI. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But he made sure to point out that “bad actors will try and take advantage” for personal gain. The risk posed by bad actors using AI technology<\/a> is significant, particularly in today's internet-driven society.
