Google Chrome now displays the Ethereum balance and a link to Etherscan when an Ethereum address is searched for. The feature is part of Google Cloud's<\/a> Web3 project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google Chrome<\/a> users can now view the Ethereum balance of any wallet address when they search for it in the browser. The feature also links to Etherscan, a popular block explorer for the Ethereum network.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 11, Nalin, the product manager for Google Cloud Web3, announced the feature via Twitter. He stated that the feature was finally live and that users could now search any Ethereum address<\/a> in Google and see the ETH balance search results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nalin added that the team was utilizing Google Cloud's BigQuery public dataset to explore token balances, eventually enabling users to query any Ethereum wallet address and visualize wallet holdings, including ERC20<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, ERC722, ERC1155, and other tokens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the search feature does not presently support ENS domain names.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feature Functionality and Benefits<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The feature retrieves data from Etherscan's API and displays it on the Google search results page. Users can see the balance in ETH and USD and the number of associated transactions and tokens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, users can click the Etherscan link to view additional information about the address on the block explorer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Users wishing to check an Ethereum address's balance without visiting a different website may find this feature helpful. It can also help users verify the authenticity of an address or identify potential scams or phishing attempts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Past and Future Web3 Integration Efforts Shared<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is not the first time Google has attempted to integrate Web3 features into its products. Google added support for displaying Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin prices in its search results in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the feature was later removed without explanation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
