Mistral AI, an artificial intelligence startup<\/a> created by ex-Meta and Google researchers, has recently raised $113M in seed funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Google DeepMind and Meta AI researchers co-founded Mistral AI in May 2023 to develop open-source generative AI models. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two months after its debut, a new artificial intelligence (AI) startup and competitor to ChatGPT's creator, OpenAI, raised $113 million in seed funding<\/a>, bringing its valuation to $260 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arthur Mensch, co-founder and chief executive officer of the company, stated that the first round of funding “will provide us with the resources and network necessary to begin deploying a new model of generative artificial intelligence.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mensch was a researcher at Google Deep Mind before co-founding Mistral AI. Timothee Lacroix and Guillaume Lample, the other two co-founders, worked at Facebook AI as a research engineer and a research scientist, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lightspeed Venture<\/a> Partners led the funding round, with participation from JCDecaux, Rodolphe Saad\u00e9, and Motier Ventures, among others. In 2024, the trio plans to issue its first models for text-based generative AI from its Paris headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organization recruits and seeks AI researchers, software engineers, and product developers. The newly founded Mistral AI also needed a social media presence at the time of writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, recently met with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a> and urged the country to take the lead in semiconductor manufacturing for AI technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
