The Blockchain Council of the Philippines (BCP), a non-profit organization for blockchain technology in the Philippines, has partnered with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to promote Web3 adoption<\/a> in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Donald Lim, the founding president of the BCP, stated in an announcement sent to Cointelegraph that the organization's mission is to promote Web3 adoption in the Philippines. The primary objective of BCP is to accelerate blockchain adoption in the country and make it a global leader in blockchain technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BCP will educate and collaborate with local Philippine blockchain ecosystem stakeholders to attain this objective. This includes collaborating with government organizations, Web3 developers<\/a>, civil society organizations, and businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the BCP established a partnership with the DICT, the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for developing and promoting the country's information and communications technology agenda to support national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to DICT \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>Director Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin, the nation is not unfamiliar with blockchain. The executive elaborated on the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have seen the rise of innovative blockchain in startups, the success of blockchain-based business solutions, and the birth of the initiative that makes blockchain for public good.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This development also indicates that the country is prepared for blockchain adoption and is “positioned to be a leader in blockchain education and will undoubtedly be a global leader in the blockchain industry,” according to the government official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the recent BTC Prague event, Cointelegraph interviewed Ethen Rose, the proprietor of Pouch, a Philippine-based wallet service that supports the Bitcoin Lighting Network<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
