TikTok has launched a feature allowing users to create and post text-based content. It is designed to compete with Twitter (recently rebranded as X<\/a>) and Threads as the dominant text-based social media platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TikTok entered the competition just 20 days after Mark Zuckerberg's Meta launched Threads<\/a> to compete with X by enabling TikTokers to create and post text-based content. The new feature provides a platform for users to express their creativity through captions and comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Users can select photos, videos, or text when creating a new post on TikTok<\/a>. TikTok allows greater customization of text postings than Threads and X, allowing users to include features such as location and music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to TikTok, other features “to make your text-based content stand out” include stickers, hashtags, background hues, and draft saving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the platform endeavors to distinguish itself from its competitors, Threads has been accused of blatantly copying a user interface that Twitter has utilized for over a decade. However, the visual similarities between Threads and X no longer stand alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Threads have recently implemented rate limits to prevent crypto and spam programs from posting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
