The cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase<\/a> will open access to its Base layer-2 platform to the general public on August 9. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As stated by Jesse Pollak, the protocols lead at Coinbase, “Base's bridging functionality is up and running, and the mainnet will be open to everyone by August 9.” Thanks to the recently constructed bridge, users can now transfer tokens between Base and Ethereum\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A layer-2 platform called Base provides a flexible substitute for Ethereum with lower transaction fees. The network is set up to serve various users, from frequent Coinbase users to fans of Defi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 13, the Base mainnet went live for programmers. However, several users were able to employ portal proxy contracts and other unauthorised methods to bridge assets to the network, exchanging fresh meme coins that were making their Base debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An unnamed Base developer created the humor coin BALD earlier this week. LeetSwap, Base's decentralized exchange, was compromised shortly after. The exchange is transitioning into a new phase and moving toward a more organized approach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are kicking off “Onchain Summer,” a month-long celebration featuring partnerships with launch partners like Coinbase, Atari, OpenSea, Showtime, Optimism, Rainbow Wallet, Manifold, Parallel, and Friends With Benefits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
