Ava Labs, the crypto firm behind the Avalanche blockchain,<\/a> is planning to collaborate with Indian government agencies and institutions to expand its operations and help develop applications on Avalanche. The firm has hired two experienced leaders from OKX and Polygon to lead its Indian team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ava Labs announced on Thursday\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a> that it has hired Devika Mittal and Kamakshi Arjun to head its Indian operations and business development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Devika Mittal,<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a> who served as the Head of Token Listings for OKCoin<\/a> under the OKX banner, will be the Director of Operations for India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamakshi Arjun, who held leadership positions at Polygon (MATIC) India and Tech Mahindra, will be India's Director of Business Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Nahas, VP of Business Development at Ava Labs, praised the new hires for their extensive experience and deep understanding of the Indian market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that they will be essential for expanding Ava Labs' reach and impact in such an important region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ava Labs targets ticketing, certification, and supply chain sectors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Mittal told The Block in an interview that Ava Labs\u2019 operations in India will focus on ticketing, certification, and supply chain sectors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also highlighted the Avalanche<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a> subnet features, which allow anyone to create their own custom blockchain with validators, rules, and governance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said that this feature will help grow the adoption and innovation of Avalanche in India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, she revealed that Ava Labs has a specific business development fund for India, which will be used to support projects and initiatives that are building on Avalanche. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, she declined to disclose further details about the firm\u2019s ongoing talks with various large institutions, including a government agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ava Labs sees India as a focus area for blockchain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ava Labs noted that India has an “organic passion for blockchain,”<\/strong> which has driven the firm's focus to the world's second-largest crypto market, according to Chainalysis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The firm said that India has shown a desire to spur development through efforts such as launching a Centre of Excellence in Blockchain Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The firm also mentioned that some Indian states, such as Goa and Telangana,<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a> have been bullish on blockchain innovation, initiating their own efforts to leverage the technology for real-world use cases like land records<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a> and vehicle registrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the notable projects in India that is building on Avalanche is Loco, an esports and live-streaming platform that is creating a suite of Web3 products and offering innovative fan experiences using a custom Avalanche subnet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
