Proposal 11868: Raising Tobin tax to 100%<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The proposal, titled \u201cFulfill prop #11784 by disabling USTC minting via raising Tobin tax to 100%\u201d<\/em>, aimed at stopping the minting and reminting of USTC through the market module, which allows burning a coin to mint another. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the 2022 Terra-LUNA crisis, the mechanism was disabled, preventing swapping from and to LUNC through the market module. This will effectively disable all market swapping and such minting of coins on Terra Classic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Users will not be able to swap between USTC and other stablecoins, which will also disable USTC burn with swaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal will not impact swapping coins through DEXes like Terraswap. This continues to be possible for existing pairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal received 98.95% votes<\/strong> in favor, with majority support from top validators. Among the 55 validators who voted, 50 voted \u201cYes\u201d.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
