A new deepfake scam<\/a> has emerged targeting XRP holders, as the XRP Ledger Foundation's forensics team warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

XRP Ledger alerts the public to a deepfake scheme that poses as CEO Brad Garlinghouse and asks them to report scams and stay away from phony giveaways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundation has alerted users about a fresh deepfake fraud targeting holders of XRP. The fraud advertises a fictitious XRP giveaway using a convincingly authentic video featuring Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the voice and look of Garlinghouse, gullible viewers are offered the opportunity to double their XRP by sending at least 1,000 XRP to the bogus account. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This bogus “community support initiative” aims to trick victims into giving up their money. In response, XRP Ledger Forensics has issued an urgent warning to the public about this deepfake scam and advised them to avoid any offers of “free money.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Deaton's lawyer has also drawn attention to the phony video, warning that anyone requesting access to a wallet or cryptocurrency is probably a scammer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This alert is issued as cybercriminals employ more sophisticated strategies to exploit cryptocurrency investors<\/a>. Following the Xahau network debut, XRP forensics recently advised users not to disclose their keys because there were no official airdrops or giveaways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite Ripple's achievements, bad actors have persistently attacked the XRP community. The rise of Ripple was highlighted at the recent 2023 Swell conference in Dubai, which CEO Brad Garlinghouse attributed to the city-state's pro-innovation laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
