The Algorand Foundation announced in a press release on November 30, 2023, the opening of a blockchain academy to enhance the competence of UNDP employees “through education and training in blockchain.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Q1 of 2024, the Algorand Blockchain Academy is scheduled to open. It claims to offer interactive courses and taped lectures to 22,000 UNDP staff members<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership “will be instrumental in equipping our team with the tools needed to address complex global challenges using blockchain technology,” according to Robert Pasicko, UNDP expert on low carbon development and alternative finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are thrilled to be in a position to leverage the credibility and expertise of the Algorand Foundation and key members of their ecosystem in order to upskill, empower, and inspire UN practitioners around the world.” <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The learning program will teach UNDP employees how blockchain technology<\/a> may improve supply chain transparency and reach underserved populations with financial services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to CoinGecko data, Algorand's native token, ALGO, increased by more than 2% in response to the news, trading at $0.13. This is not the United Nations's first attempt to use blockchain technology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Government Blockchain Association (GBA) and the United Nations Internet Governance Forum\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a> (IGF) announced collaborative efforts to standardize blockchain in July 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
