By introducing a new educational initiative in Africa, the hardware cryptocurrency wallet company Trezor has continued its efforts to promote Bitcoin education internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official introduction of the Trezor Academy took place on December 4 at the Africa Bitcoin Conference, supported by Trezor in Accra, the capital of Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An educational initiative, the academy seeks to disseminate Bitcoin-related knowledge throughout Africa. Implemented initially as a pilot initiative in 2023, the program's objective is to facilitate local individuals' understanding of the potential of Bitcoin through in-person meetups facilitated by Bitcoin specialists in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda, and Burundi have all been involved in the Trezor Academy pilot, as reported on Trezor's blog. The company intends to establish academies in over ten additional African countries by 2024 and provide Bitcoin education to hundreds of local educators to increase cryptocurrency awareness<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Perhaps more than on any other continent, Bitcoin adoption is more pertinent in Africa,” said Matej Zak, CEO of Trezor. He added that the properties of Bitcoin offer several advantages associated with local initiatives, such as savings, microfinancing, and payment schemes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trezor also finances Bitcoineta, a Bitcoin-themed vehicle that aims to raise awareness about Bitcoin in West Africa, specifically in Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria, as an extension of its educational initiatives in the region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initiated in 2018 by the non-profit organizations Bitcoin Argentina and Bitcoin Americana, the Bitcoineta awareness initiative derives its name from a combination of “Bitcoin” and “camioneta,” the Spanish word for minivan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bitcoin Cowries, an initiative in Ghana devoted to Bitcoin education, is reportedly coordinating the introduction of the African Bitcoineta campaign\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>. A Bitcoineta-branded Land Rover will traverse the Economic Community of West African States as part of the campaign, delivering the Bitcoin message to rural communities and institutions throughout the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement states that the African Bitcoineta road journey commenced on December 1. Video diaries and other media outlets, in addition to the official Bitcoineta X (formerly Twitter) account, will be utilized to document the vehicle's development, according to Trezor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
