According to City A.M. in London, an unidentified insider within Amazon\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a> has stated that the e-commerce giant plans to accept Bitcoin (BTC) payments by the end of 2021, potentially paving the way for broader popular acceptance of crypto transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a report published on Sunday, the source told City A.M., \u201cThis isn\u2019t just going through the motions to set up cryptocurrency payment solutions at some point in the future \u2013 this is a full-on, well-discussed, integral part of the future mechanism of how Amazon will work,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Bitcoin is the first step in Amazon's crypto goals, she stated that the company's management are eager to incorporate more well-known cryptocurrencies in the future. She claimed that the “direction is coming from the very top,” alluding to Jeff Bezos, and added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis entire project is pretty much ready to roll.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amazon is rumoured to be researching the creation of its own cryptocurrency<\/a>, maybe as early as 2022, in addition to taking Bitcoin payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a new job posting for “Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead” appeared on Amazon's job board last week, speculation about the company's entry into the cryptocurrency market has been rife for days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new worker will assist with the development of Amazon's digital currency strategy and product roadmap, according to the job description. Strong domain expertise in blockchain, distributed ledgers, central bank digital currencies, and crypto, in general, is required for this post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not the first time Amazon has advertised a crypto-related position<\/a>.
