An attack caused the South Korean karaoke blockchain platform Somesing<\/a> to lose access to 730 million SSX tokens valued at $11.58 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A blog post by Somesing states that the hack happened on January 27. From the SSX tokens<\/a> that were taken, 226 million were in the fund's custody, and 504 million were still unallocated tokens that were supposed to be in circulation by the end of 2025. The Somesing group:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As a result, 489 million SSX tokens have been over-circulated compared to the circulation volume under the original circulation supply plan as of the end of January 2024.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The project team emphasized that the hacking incident is thought to have been carried out by professional hacker(s) who specialize in hacking virtual assets<\/a> and is not connected to any member of the Somesing squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The platform crew called in the police to look into the situation. The karaoke platform receives assistance from Uppsala Security\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, an Interpol partner, and the Klaytn Foundation, which runs Somesing on its blockchain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to the event, significant South Korean exchanges stopped accepting deposits and withdrawals from the SSX. Another initiative, GMEE, was the target of a hacking attack last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unknown individuals obtained access to contracts for gaming platform (GMEE) tokens on January 22 and took $7 million in total. Following the announcement, GMEE fell by nearly half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The analysis revealed that the GitLab service\u2014which is used to store and manage repositories\u2014had been compromised by an unidentified party. As a result, they could access GMEE token contracts without authorization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
