OpenAI's executives, including Sam Altman, Ilya Sutskever, Greg Brockman, John Schulman, and Wojciech Zaremba, authored a blog post on March 5 in which they provided information regarding the organization's objectives and relationship with Musk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This occurred after Musk filed suit against OpenAI on February 29, alleging a transgression in the original agreement to make “freely available to the public” AI advancements developed in collaboration with Microsoft and OpenAI for the duration of their multibillion-dollar partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elon Musk files a lawsuit against OpenAI, demanding that the company return to its open-source roots and seeking an injunction to prohibit the commercial exploitation of artificial general intelligence (AGI) technology\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OpenAI leaders, on the other hand, stated in a blog post that they “intend to move to dismiss all of Elon's claims” and that Musk was at the forefront of early investor fundraising efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Greg and Sam had initially intended to raise $100 million when they founded OpenAI in late 2015,” they wrote. “However, Elon stated in an email, ‘We need to raise a much larger amount than $100 million to avoid sounding hopeless\u2026” “I believe we should state that our initial funding commitment is $1 billion.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the beginning, the organization's nonprofit status impeded its ability to solicit funds from investors. Thus, Musk and the architects of OpenAI agreed to establish a “for-profit” organization in which Musk would hold “majority equity, initial board control, and the position of CEO.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the blog post, Musk refrained from providing the company with any additional financing during the ongoing negotiations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe couldn\u2019t agree to terms on a for-profit with Elon because we felt it was against the mission for any individual to have absolute control over OpenAI. He then suggested instead merging OpenAI into Tesla.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

OpenAI stated that it is “advancing its mission” by developing publicly accessible “beneficial tools.” Musk reportedly realized that the mission did not “implement open-sourcing AGI,” according to the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It published an email exchange between Musk and Sutskever in which Musk wrote, “As the development of artificial intelligence<\/a> approaches, it will be logical to become less transparent. “OwnAI signifies that while all should reap the benefits of completed AI systems, withholding scientific knowledge is entirely acceptable,” Elon replied. “Fully agreed.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
