Officials plan to transfer former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried<\/a> to a California prison near his parents, despite his lawyers' appeal to keep him in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sam “SBF” Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX<\/a>, is allegedly being transported by officials from New York to a federal facility in California, which is close to his parents' house.

According to a May 22 Wall Street Journal article, despite his attorneys' demands to remain in the New York region while he files an appeal, Bankman-Fried may serve the majority of his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Mendota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, a federal judge found SBF guilty of seven felonies and sentenced him to twenty-five years in jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anankman-Fried was detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn in August 2023 after a judge canceled his bail prior to the trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of his notice to appeal his conviction and imprisonment, the former CEO of FTX asked to remain in Brooklyn prison\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a> following his sentencing hearing to “facilitate access to his appellate counsel.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
