Mark Cuban, a billionaire investor, claims he lost access to his Gmail account after falling victim to a scam call, just months after losing more than $800,000 in cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI just got hacked at my mcuban@gmail.com because someone named Noah at your 650-203-0000 called and said I had an intruder and spoofed Google\u2019s recovery methods,\u201d Cuban wrote in a June 22 X post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is typically accomplished by deceiving users into disclosing personal information or account credentials by appearing as an official employee of, in this case, Google.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf anyone gets anything from mcuban@gmail.com after 3:30pm pst it\u2019s not me,\u201d Cuban informed his 8.8 million X followers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although he received encouraging messages from the crypto community, others speculated about the number of communications he would miss while without access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen you get your access back, please post a screenshot of the number of unread emails. I\u2019m betting it is up to 5 digits by now,\u201d crypto exchange Kraken chief security officer Nick Percoco<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a> wrote in a June 22 X post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some questioned whether his X account had also been compromised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIs it POSSIBLE that his X account has now been hacked also by the hackers? Therefore they\u2019re trying to get more information,\u201d a user who goes by the name \u201cMickamious\u201d added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cuban\u2019s Crypto Wallet Drained in Recent Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This comes nine months after Cuban's hot wallet was drained of approximately $870,000, a loss that may have been the result of hackers who had been anticipating his return to MetaMask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cointelegraph reported in September 2023 that independent blockchain detective Wazz was the first to notice the hack after noticing odd behavior with one of Cuban's wallets, which the 65-year-old had not used in about five months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Cuban has been a prominent proponent of cryptocurrency in recent years, particularly in his efforts to facilitate more favorable crypto regulations in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
