EigenLayer's EigenDA has announced a whitelist security solution to fight Sybil and DDoS attacks on Ethereum<\/a>, ensuring secure, scalable data access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EigenLayer has implemented a whitelist security measure for its EigenDA data-availability service on the Ethereum mainnet to protect against Sybil and DDoS attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This security measure may involve the use of ECDSA authentication for either an Ethereum address or an IP address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EigenDA Unveils Whitelist Security Against Sybil<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

EigenLayer has implemented a whitelist for its free data availability service, EigenDA,\u00a0to mitigate potential security risks, including Sybil and DDoS attacks\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This measure utilizes ECDSA authentication with an IP address and\/or Ethereum address to authenticate the user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EigenLayer aims to ensure the availability of its service to all consumers while safeguarding it through the implementation of this security measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\/ EigenDA usage is currently free for rollups on mainnet. We welcome all rollups to post blobs to EigenDA on Ethereum mainnet.

In order to prevent Sybil\/DDoS attacks with a free tier, we have implemented a whitelist with either IP or ETH address ECDSA authentication.<\/p>— EigenDA (@eigen_da) June 22, 2024<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a><\/blockquote>

The current free tier has a throughput of up to 768KB per 10-minute interval, which is significantly higher than the current minimum requirement for the most occupied rollups on Ethereum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, Base, a popular rollup, uses fewer than 2 blobs every 10 minutes; consequently, EigenDA's free tier is more than sufficient for current needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, EigenDA also allows partners to request more throughput beyond the free tier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The platform's partner registration allows interested parties to collaborate closely with EigenDA to fulfill their data requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is possible to accommodate high-throughput use cases as a result of this flexibility, which supports a variety of applications and innovations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EigenDA has been evaluated on the mainnet at peak throughputs of up to 10 MB\/sec and generates synthetic loads of 0.6 MB\/sec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This high capacity makes EigenDA a suitable solution for Ethereum\u2019s data availability requirements as it is scalable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EIGEN Stake Drop and Ongoing Developments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

EigenLayer is also in the process of implementing permissionless payments for blob throughput on EigenDA, which is anticipated to be released by the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This feature will allow users to reserve bandwidth at a fixed rate to accommodate high throughput demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the Eigen Foundation<\/a> has initiated the second phase of the EIGEN stake drop, a significant milestone in the project's token distribution strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initial phase of the initiative has distributed approximately 113 million EIGEN tokens to guarantee its ongoing development and to enhance its AVS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tokens will be non-transferable until the conclusion of Q3 2024, following their claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the EigenLayer web portal enables users to engage in staking and delegation to EigenDA operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At present, EigenDA is the sole AVS that employs an EIGEN quorum, and other AVSs will shortly adopt this system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EigenLayer's Security Contributions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

EigenLayer, which was launched on the Ethereum mainnet in April 2024, has already amassed deposits exceeding $12 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By employing a broader trust network, the platform eliminates the need for distinct security solutions, thereby enabling the development of new PoS projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The consensus layer, oracle layer, and data availability layer are among the application domains that EigenLayer supports through its AVSs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EigenDA is a significant contributor to Ethereum's scalability solutions due to the availability of EigenDA and the implementation of EigenLayer's pooled security feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
