In a genuinely bizarre speech for him, Joe Biden declared that he would not reconsider his decision to remain in the 2024 presidential election unless polling data indicated that “there is no way you can win.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biden responded to a reporter's inquiry during a news conference, as the reporter inquired whether he would reconsider his decision to remain in the race if his campaign team provided data indicating that Kamala Harris would perform better against Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biden's statement was made in response to the increasing number of calls from his Democratic colleagues urging him to withdraw from the campaign following his failure to win the debate with Trump last month. Biden was also asked whether he would discharge his Democratic National Convention delegates to “vote their conscience.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This has the potential to result in the first presidential nomination fight at the Democratic convention that is genuinely contested in over fifty years. The president responded in a murmur, stating that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cObviously, they\u2019re free to do whatever they want. But I get overwhelming support. Overwhelming support. I won\u2026 I forget how many votes I won in the primary, overwhelming.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He continued, “So what if I unexpectedly arrive at the convention tomorrow and everyone decides that we would prefer someone else? That is the democratic procedure. He concluded with the statement, “It shall not transpire.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same peculiar speech, Biden referred to Harris as “Vice President Trump” and stated that he selected him because he is “qualified to be President.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He previously made a mistake during an introduction of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/a> at the NATO summit by referring to him as “President Putin,” which is both amusing and alarming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representative Jim Himes, the senior Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, reiterated his call for Biden to withdraw from the campaign shortly after the news conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Himes commended Biden for his exceptional leadership and public service, but he recommended that he resign to benefit the party and the country as a whole. In his own words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe 2024 election will define the future of American democracy, and we must put forth the strongest candidate possible to confront the threat posed by Trump\u2019s promised MAGA authoritarianism. I no longer believe that is Joe Biden.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Representative Scott Peters\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a> shares the same concern.
