The issuance of 10,000 non-fungible tokens, or NFTs\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, has been announced by Dfinity's Internet Computer. Users can collect their free token on Wednesday at 8 p.m. UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The avatars were created by brothers Przemek and Tomasz Chojecki, together with Adam Stpnik, after the trio was inspired by acronym similarities to the 90s hip-hop combo Insane Clown Posse, as well as the famed Cryptopunk NFTs' astounding success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a series of special early releases, just 3,000 punks <\/a>are projected to be available for claim at the time of release, one per user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Przemek Chojecki, the project's co-founder, told Cointelegraph about his hopes for the NFT drop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We\u2019re incredibly excited for the launch of ICPunks on the Internet <\/a>Computer. The NFT space is moving at such a rapid pace, it is amazing to be part of it. We have a lot of plans for ICPunks, including an NFT Marketplace, this is the first step towards that.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Internet Computer (ICP) is a cryptocurrency token that enables users to create programs, websites, and digital services using the Internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Popular social media networks such as Linkedin, Medium and Whatsapp as well as community-driven websites such as Reddit have already been replaced by alternatives developed by members of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been reported that the ICPunk drop has attracted significant attention from the crypto world, with analytical data indicating that the NFT's website has received 89,000 visitors since it went up on January 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chojecki also spoke with us about the latest Dfinity partnership, which he described as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have been following DFINITY\u2019s work since 2017. We believe the Internet Computer is the best solution for NFTs. One of the benefits of the Internet Computer is that all information is stored on-chain. There is no need to use IPFS or dedicated web servers to host images. It\u2019s truly a decentralized NFT <\/a>solution.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The NFT industry has experienced tremendous growth over the past year as a result of the contributions of an impressive array of reputable businesses, celebrities, and public personalities to the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
