io.net\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN), has partnered with FLock.io, a decentralized platform for AI training, to launch a new mechanism called \u201cProof of AI\u201d (PoAI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per a press release shared with Cointelegraph, this new consensus mechanism is claimed to be the first of its kind and is designed to enhance the integrity of decentralized networks<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a written Q&A, Milan Amin, the chief marketing officer at io.net, stated that PoAI will \u201cenable decentralized networks to become a more trusted and scalable solution for AI applications.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis development aligns with the broader vision outlined by io.net, where the exponential growth in AI demands is met by decentralized networks that offer superior performance, scalability, and cost efficiency compared to traditional cloud providers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Consensus Mechanism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The PoAI mechanism aims to ensure that participants in DePINs genuinely contribute compute resources rather than just pretend to participate to earn rewards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amin explained that this mechanism \u201censures that honest contributors are fairly compensated\u201d while discouraging those who try to benefit without making real contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis alignment of incentives will not only enhance the profitability for genuine contributors but also ensure the long-term sustainability of the network.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Implications of PoAI<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Amin, PoAI \u201crepresents a significant leap forward\u201d for the development of decentralized AI systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy introducing a reliable mechanism for verifying the integrity and performance of compute resources, PoAI will enable decentralized networks to become a more trusted and scalable solution for AI applications.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The press release further notes that the implementation of the new consensus will validate DePIN node integrity \u201cin a decentralized and AI-native way\u201d while compiling assessments from io.net nodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

io.net CEO Resigns Two Days Before Token Launch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On June 10, Ahmad Shadid, co-founder of io.net, resigned “effective immediately” and was replaced by Tory Green, another co-founder and the former chief operating officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This change occurred just two days before the project\u2019s token launch and was in response to allegations concerning Shadid\u2019s past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shadid stated that he made the decision to step down to allow io.net to \u201cmove forward without distraction\u201d and to \u201cfocus on its growth and success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
