The Supreme Court of India's official YouTube channel, which boasts a following of over 217,000, was rebranded as a Ripple-themed account on September 20 to conduct a cryptocurrency fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hackers exploited the channel to broadcast a fabricated livestream video featuring Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple Labs's CEO. It also encouraged potential victims to invest in the scheme by promising unreal returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YouTube terminates the compromised account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the hackers altered the URL, renamed the channel, and deleted the previous videos uploaded by the account's original proprietor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, YouTube was compelled to remove the compromised channel, stating it “violated our Community Guidelines.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phishing links are frequently included in the bogus XRP Livestream events, which, upon clicking, prompt users to establish connections with their crypto wallets<\/a>. Hackers can withdraw funds without requiring additional authentication once a user authorizes the request, granting them full access to the wallet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April, YouTube assisted in the neutralization of a comparable XRP fraud that involved the account of a prominent gaming channel, DidYouKnowGaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, the XRP scammers had adopted a comparable strategy by rebranding the account and deleting the older recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YouTube <\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>retrieved the compromised account and deleted its content, a fortunate development for DidYouKnowGaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although most individuals are unaware of the process of hacking into YouTube accounts, the number of breaches on the video streaming platform is increasing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hackers Continue to Hack YouTube accounts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ben&Ben, a nine-piece pop band with over three million followers, was hacked in July to simulcast a fraudulent XRP advertisement on their YouTube account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band announced on their official Facebook page that their YouTube channel had been hacked, and their staff was regaining access to the page. The account live-streamed a common XRP fraud <\/a>while the band attempted to retrieve the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
