OpenAI submitted a motion to dismiss Elon Musk's complaint against it on October 8. The artificial intelligence firm alleges that Musk is employing the court system to “harass” it to increase the success of his own competing company, xAI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Musk initiated legal proceedings against OpenAI in February, asserting that the organization had abandoned its “not-for-profit” origins. Questions regarding OpenAI's potential transition to a “for profit” model, as outlined in the lawsuit, sparked discussions within the AI community regarding the legality of the company's business model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Musk Files a Lawsuit Against Altman and OpenAI<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Musk's legal team, OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, “intentionally courted and deceived Musk, preying on Musk's humanitarian concern about the existential dangers posed by artificial intelligence,” and “assiduously manipulated Musk into co-founding their spurious non-profit venture, OpenAI, Inc.” in the August lawsuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company requests that the judge overseeing the lawsuit dismiss the case completely, as indicated in the Oct. 9 filing from OpenAI. The company's legal team contends that Musk is employing the legal system to torment the company and that the billionaire's claims lack legal validity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OpenAI Requesting Termination<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As per the legal team of OpenAI\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, the lawsuit is “the most recent development in Elon Musk's escalating campaign to harass OpenAI to gain a competitive advantage.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The filing also claims that “Musk once supported OpenAI” in its mission, but “he abandoned the venture when his bid to dominate it failed.” Additionally, OpenAI alleges in the document that Musk is utilizing the legal system to assist his own company in competing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
