MMS, a subsidiary of Europe's top telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom, has partnered with Bankhaus Metzler to explore Bitcoin mining using excess renewable energy<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This pilot project in Germany aims to utilize extra power generated from renewable sources, such as solar and wind, to create a sustainable solution that stabilizes energy grids during times of high production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deutsche Telekom Subsidiary To Start Testing Bitcoin Mining Infrastructure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a recent press release\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, MMS announced its collaboration with Bankhaus Metzler to test Bitcoin mining as a way to balance Germany\u2019s variable renewable energy output. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This approach addresses key energy challenges, particularly the efficient use of excess renewable power, which is often wasted due to grid limitations or insufficient storage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oliver Nyderle, Head of Digital Trust & Web3 Infrastructure <\/a>at MMS, described this process as \u201cdigital monetary photosynthesis,\u201d noting that it could transform surplus energy into digital assets and act as a tool for managing grid fluctuations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mining operations will take place at Metis Solutions GmbH, located at Riva GmbH Engineering in Backnang, which has its own photovoltaic setup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MMS will oversee the mining equipment using its expertise in web3 infrastructure, while Metis Solutions will handle the facility\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
