Time magazine named Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, along with musicians, world leaders, activists, and others, one of the most influential people this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buterin appears on Time's list of 2021 innovators, alongside Nvidia <\/a>CEO Jensen Huang, Tesla CEO and Dogecoin (DOGE) supporter Elon Musk, and others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian cited Buterin's role in growing the Ethereum network to a market capitalization of more than $400 billion and encouraging the development of decentralized apps and non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, in his profile on the Ethereum co-founder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo single person could possibly have come up with all of the uses for Ethereum<\/a>, but it did take one person's idea to get it started,\u201d Ohanian explained. \u201cFrom there, a new world opened up, spawning new ways to leverage blockchain technology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The long-running publication appears to be becoming more open to both reporting on the crypto space and accepting it in its own operations. In March, Time announced that it would be looking for a chief financial officer with “comfort with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies,” and it auctioned off three NFTs<\/a> based on magazine covers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The magazine announced the following month that it would accept cryptocurrency payments for digital subscriptions, further integrating cryptocurrencies into its business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, as part of a collaboration with fund manager Grayscale<\/a>, Time announced that it would be holding Bitcoin (BTC) \u2014 received as payment for an educational video series \u2014 on its balance sheets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe aren't even in the first inning of what we want to do with crypto,\u201d president Keith Grossman said in an interview on Sept. 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
