The Open Network (TON) blockchain has made a proactive request to its validators, asking that they get ready for the onboarding of millions of users from the Web3 game Hamster Kombat. We made this request anticipating an increase in the system's demand.

On September 25th, TON validators, developers and integrators received a warning in a Telegram channel about an upcoming spike in bandwidth demand for its blockchain implementation.

“The quality of validators directly affects the quality of the blockchain. We appreciate your participation in The Open Network.”

As users of the Hamster Kombat platform began minting Hamster Kombat coin (HMSTR) on the blockchain platform, the announcement called on TON validators to ensure a high level of availability.

TON validators unite on Telegram channel

We have instructed all TON validators to join the ‘TON Status' Telegram channel to ensure real-time support between September 26 and September 29. We also expect them to implement any urgent repairs or resources within one hour of receiving a written instruction.

Additionally, we request that the TON validators “constantly monitor the status of your validator and hardware during these days.”

There are currently one hundred million monthly active users of the game Hamster Kombat, which is based on Telegram.

The game asserted that it has become the third-fastest app in history to onboard and surpass 150 million users, surpassing Pokémon GO and Meta's Threads in each of those categories.

Sébastien Borget, co-founder of The Sandbox metaverse, highlighted in an interview the importance of Telegram-based games in redefining the approach to play-to-earn games:

“This is exciting and powerful. It shows how things move in this industry with the network effect of Web3. In weeks or months, they grow to unbelievable scales.”

Future plans for Hamster Kombat

The Hamster Kombat team presented a revised roadmap on September 25. The roadmap outlined the team's objectives for the final quarter of 2024 and 2025.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the game will include the integration of external payment systems, the introduction of new games within the Hamster ecosystem, and the inclusion of non-fungible tokens as playable assets.

Additionally, Hamster Kombat brought attention to the fact that it had dismissed 2.3 million players from the game due to cheating.
