In an effort to stop virtual asset fraud, the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the UK is assembling a special squad to look into crypto crimes.

An NCA job posting states that the organization seeks six candidates to form a new unit investigating cryptocurrency-related offenses. The working group will be a component of either the Digital Assets Unit or the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU).

The range of salaries is £42,109 to £45,605. Candidates must be able to analyze various documents and questionable cryptocurrency transactions, keep an eye on blockchain technology, and communicate with law enforcement and regulatory bodies.

In light of growing cyber threats, the NCA has made it clear that it plans to establish a specialized squad of “cryptocurrency investigators.” The action shows that the UK intends to become a center for cryptocurrency, even as local governments debate how to create a regulated environment that safeguards users’ interests.

The NCA has posted multiple employment positions for bitcoin experts this year. Thus, to combat sophisticated financial crimes involving the usage of cryptocurrency, the NCA started choosing candidates for the job of investigator in August.

The organization confiscated digital assets valued at $26.9 million between April 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022; it has never before seized cryptocurrency.

In an effort to lessen the effects of economic crime, the NCA has said that it has stepped up its efforts to prevent money laundering through cryptocurrency assets.

A multi-agency investigative team was established by South Korea earlier this year in response to an increase in cryptocurrency-related crimes, such as fraud, hacking, and money laundering, in the nation.

Subsequently, Chainalysis Reactor, a specialized program, was used by Canadian law enforcement to monitor questionable cryptocurrency transactions across several blockchains.
