Chipotle is going through a campaign for customers to win a free burrito or up to $25,000 in bitcoins to celebrate National Burrito Day on April 1.
Chipotle Mexican Grill customers (or simply Chipotle) can participate in a special promotion that can get a free burrito or a bitcoin amount up to $25,000. All it has to do is devise a six-digit code that is hundreds of millions of dollars worth of lost treasure in BTC.
Bitcoin or Burrito?
Although the majority of people associate April 1st as the International Day of Fool, it is the National Burrito Day which has another meaning in the USA.
In celebration of the event, a special campaign is announced by Chipotle, one of Mexico’s largest food chains. Interestingly, the Bitcoin campaign also has consequences.
Chipotle partnered with Stefan Thomas, a German programmer whose story was told a couple of months earlier by CryptoPotato. In 2011, Thomas was given 7.002 bitcoins for a video on education, “What is Bitcoin?,” but he did not give much attention to the little or no value of his new holdings at the time.Consequently, he lost the digital keys to the wallet.
With the value of these Bitcoins bursting into more than $400 million in the next decade, Thomas tried to access the wallet in several ways but didn’t remember his password, he said that he gave up.
Collaboration with Chipotle is a playful ode to the experience of Thomas losing his connection to the treasure of the BTC. In other words, the campaign allows participants to try and devise a six-digit code ten times and, if they win, they may…
Free Burrito or $25K In BTC
If participants break the 6-digit code, they will be given “the opportunity to win a free Burrito or up to $25,000 in Bitcoin.” Nevertheless they may still be “surprised and pleased with a special offer by Chipotle,” even if they do not make ten attempts.
The whole prize is as follows: 10,000 participants will win a free burrito, 50 receive 500 dollaries in BTC and 3 are the last winners, the main crypto-currency worth 25,000 dollars.
“We’re always looking for unique ways to enhance the celebration, and this year, we’re giving fans the opportunity to acquire two highly valuable assets: Burritos or Bitcoin.” – said Chipotle’s Chief Market Officer, Chris Brandt.
