Uniswap Labs’ recently acquired Crypto: The Game (CTG)may be a contender for an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Emerging Media Program category.
Based on the format of a television reality show, the game pits ten “tribes” of 80 players against one another as they endeavor to endure daily “immunity challenges,” including arcade games and an online digital scavenger hunt.
Crypto: The Game
The final survivor takes home the pot of entry money, minus a 10% fee that maintains the game’s operation, after CTG participants pay 0.1 Ether to participate.
The losing tribes must eliminate their members from the competition. By tweeting about their participation, players can obtain personal immunity. Previously eliminated competitors vote for one of the survivors on the final day.
The duration of each season is ten days. The game occurs in real-time within a 24-hour cycle on the Base blockchain. Fans can subscribe to a podcast dedicated to the game and follow the action on X or Farcaster.
Currently, CTG is in the process of launching its third season following its introduction in January. The prize for season 1 was approximately $150,000, while the winner of season 2 received $274,000 as the price of ETH increased.
Competitors in Season 2 acquired the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that granted them entrance within 15 minutes. Players can sell their NFTs, and the purchaser will receive their position in the game.
According to Fortune, lead developer Dylan Abruscato stated that CTG players consist of members of the crypto X community, crypto influencers, and other market actors, as well as 10%-15% “normies,” individuals who have not previously worked in the crypto industry.
Uniswap Acquires CTG
Just before the announcement of the Emmy nomination ballot lineup on June 11, Uniswap Labs, most renowned for its Ethereum-based decentralized cryptocurrency exchange, acquired CTG for an undisclosed sum of cash, crypto, and equity.
Abruscato and the remainder of the development team joined Uniswap to oversee season 3 and collaborate on additional interactive experiences for the crypto community.
In the Emmy competition, CTG is competing against virtual reality experiences, Verizon’s Catch My iPhone game, the Billboard Music Awards, and products from notable figures such as horror film director Eli Roth, composer Jean-Michel Jarre, celebrity Lucy Liu, and Claymation characters Wallace & Gromit. Voting by members of a “peer group” will continue until June 25.
On June 12, Solana also introduced its customer loyalty marketing service, Bond, to an adjacent market.
