Ripple founded the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) to encourage academic research, technical advancement, and innovation in blockchain and cryptocurrency.
As a result, the UBRI pledged $50M in philanthropic support to eminent colleges worldwide. Participants who perform research in the XRP Ledger (XRPL) as part of the Initiative are awarded the XRPL Grants.
Overall, the UBRI is one of the most ardent advocates of scholarly investigation in the ecology of the cryptocurrency market. The UBRI initiative has enabled the establishment of the Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator and Lab for Inclusive FinTech, Wharton Blockchain, and Digital Asset Project, and IIT Bombay’s Center of Excellence to boost blockchain education. UBRI partners include seven of the top ten university blockchain programs worldwide.

The alliances with more than 50 colleges worldwide are at the heart of Ripple’s investments for the future. In a statement released to mark the program’s fifth anniversary, the business said:
“UBRI has now established more than 50 university partners across six continents, awarded 590 fellowships and scholarships, and supported the publication of over 1,000 research articles and presentations. “
The XRP token community still hopes that the litigation against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will yield a summary judgment before the end of 2023. A top Bank of America official has recently commended the position of Ripple XRP in the payments industry as a “possible exception.”
