Furthermore, Durov is accused of participating in the trafficking of narcotics. The investigation suggests that Telegram was employed as a platform for selling, distributing, and offering illicit substances. Amid these developments, a magistrate has expedited the detention of the Telegram founder by 96 hours.
India’s Ongoing Investigation and Apple Rumors
Rumors began to propagate that Apple might remove Telegram from its App Store, particularly in India, where the platform has a significant user base, following Pavel Durov’s arrest. Nevertheless, Apple has refuted these speculations, stating that it has no intention of removing Telegram from the App Store. The speculation appears to be a resurgence of previous falsehoods that have already been refuted.
As a result, the Indian government is presently investigating the platform for its purported involvement in criminal activities, such as gambling and extortion.
