Apple Studios and A24 are producing a film based on Michael Lewis’ book Going Infinite, which chronicles the rise and fall of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.

A movie about former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried is currently in development by Apple Studios and A24. The film is based on the best-selling Michael Lewis book “Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon.”
A film about Michael Lewis’ book “Going Infinite” will be co-developed and co-produced by Apple Studios and A24, as reported by Variety. The film will examine the success and downfall of the crypto exchange FTX and its inventor, Sam Bankman-Fried.
According to reports, the script for the film adaptation will be penned by Lena Dunham. Dunham is most renowned for her role as the creator, performer, director, and executive producer of the HBO series “Girls,” for which she received eight Emmy Award nominations and a Golden Globe.
Apple acquired the rights to Michael Lewis’ book about Sam Bankman-Fried for $5 million in September 2023, one month prior to its publication. Lewis reportedly observed the ascent and descent of SBF in real time, as he remained affixed to the erstwhile crypto billionaire for a year.
SBF is the subject of eight documented Hollywood projects, in addition to Apple’s biopic and A24.
Amazon is also commissioning a limited series about FTX’s collapse, which is expected to be produced by the Russo brothers’ company AGBO and comprise of eight episodes, according to Variety. David Weil, the creator of the Amazon Prime series “Hunters,” is expected to write and executive produce the pilot. However, an inside source has indicated that the Russos are in discussions to direct.
Another project reportedly in the works at SBF is a profile documentary directed by Nanette Burstein, who previously directed the 2020 documentary film “Hillary,” which was based on the life of former United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Before the collapse of the crypto exchange in 2022, Sam Bankman-Fried, the CEO and co-founder of FTX, was a prominent figure in the crypto industry. Bankman-Fried was found guilty of a variety of offenses, such as securities fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, and campaign finance violations.
He was sentenced to 25 years in prison and ordered to forfeit $11 billion for his offenses on March 28, 2024. Since the previous year, Bankman-Fried has been incarcerated in a federal penal facility.
