The second edition of the Avalanche Summit featured the latest developments and trends in web3 gaming and NFTs, attracting over 4,000 attendees and 300 speakers to Barcelona’s historic Poble Espanyol.
The Avalanche conference took place from May 3-5 at the Poble Espanyol, an open-air architectural museum that boasts centuries of Spanish history. The event was large enough to fill the entire museum, attracting the attention of passing tourists.
Several crypto startups and projects greeted attendees as they walked through the main entrance, displaying their products and handing out swag.
A Packed Agenda with Diverse Topics and Speakers
The Avalanche conference boasted more than 300 speakers and 125 panels, up from 250 and 60 panels the prior year.
Five stages were devoted to talks and discussions, including Avalanche platform upgrades, Web3 developments, DeFi, NFTs, DAOs, legislation, interoperability, gaming, metaverse, and social impact.
Emin Gün Sirer (Founder and CEO of Ava Labs), Jeff Hasselman (AWS Global Head Web3), Bryan Pellegrino (CEO & Co-Founder of LayerZero Labs), Pedro Gomes (Co-Founder of WalletConnect), Sunny Aggarwal (Co-Founder of Osmosis Labs), and many others were among the important speakers.
A Focus on Web3 Gaming and NFTs
A significant focus was placed on web3 gaming, and attendees had the opportunity to test-drive games built on the Avalanche blockchain. According to an Ava Labs representative, Avalanche is becoming an increasingly popular choice for web3 gaming due to its efficiency and subnets.
Although few NFT projects were on display at the conference, a representative from Avalanche stated that the company plans to expand its presence in the industry since they are confident in the technology’s potential.
Given Avalanche’s increasing popularity and commitment to innovation, it will be interesting to see how they continue to shape the landscape of blockchain technology in the coming years.
The Avaissance program and Avalanche’s new attempt to foster the next generation of digital artists were also highlighted during the Avalanche Summit II. Over fifty creators will receive funding, mentorship, and loyal support from the Avalanche ecosystem through the Artist in Residence program.
One highlight of the Avaissance program is the Mona Lisa Initiative (MLI), a digital art curation collaboration that jump-starts the next generation of Avalanche art.
During a summit panel discussion, attendees learned about this groundbreaking program and its creators. The announcement of the program winners is expected later this month.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Regarding waste management and environmental impact, hosting an event for many people can be difficult. However, Ava Labs has shown that it is possible to be both large and environmentally conscious.
The corporation partnered with the Bye Bye Plastic Foundation for the second year to reduce its plastic and carbon footprint.
Ava Labs discussed its eco-friendly and social goals with BBP Foundation and the Crypto Carbon Ratings Institute (CCRI). The company also declared its intentions to achieve carbon neutrality by 2024.
The Avalanche Summit II was a successful event that brought web3 enthusiasts worldwide together to network, learn, and have fun.
The event also highlighted Avalanche’s development and promised a leading platform for decentralized apps. ICYMI, you can view recordings of the sessions on the official website.
