The NFT-based strategy game Origins is now available on the Apple App Store in key markets where the game is most popular and has launched a new marketplace and merch store.
Axie Infinity: Origins is a spin-off of Axie Infinity, a virtual world populated with cute, formidable creatures known as Axies. Axies can be battled, bred, collected, and even used to earn resources and collectibles that are tradable on an open marketplace.
Origins is a card-based strategy game that offers free “starter” non-NFT characters with unique abilities and playstyles. Players can build the ultimate team of Axies and conquer their enemies in strategic card battles.
In addition, they can also take down evil monsters called Chimera in Adventure mode or challenge other players in the Arena.
Where can I play Origins?
The game is now accessible on the Apple App Store in many countries across Latin America and Asia, such as Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
Previously, it was only available in some regions on Google Play Store and the company’s Mavis Hub. The game has also reached 1.5 million installs on all platforms and aims to expand further through Google and Apple mobile users.
Axie Infinity Updates
Sky Mavis, the creator of Axie Infinity, is also launching Mavis Market, a curated NFT marketplace powered by the company’s native Ronin blockchain.
From Wednesday, some collectibles from a third-party game or dApp developers who deploy on Ronin will be available on the marketplace. The company also plans to launch a merch store.
Sky Mavis CEO Trung Nguyen said: “Sky Mavis remains committed to our vision of a player-owner digital nation and is excited to work with app stores to open our ecosystem to a new generation of Lunacians.”
In March, Axie Infinity overhauled Ronin’s core systems to make the network more decentralized and secure to recover from a $625 million hack last year.
In addition, the company also partnered with game development studios, including Tribes Studio, Bali Games, Directive Games, and Bowled.io, to expand the Axie Infinity universe, allowing select games to use the Axie IP.
