London Blockchain Conference 2023 is set to become an annual event showcasing blockchain technology’s latest developments and use cases.
James Marchant, executive chairman of startup incubator Block Dojo, shares his insights on why London is the optimal location for blockchain entrepreneurs in an interview with CoinGeek.
The conference will take place between May 31 and June 2, 2023, at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre (QEII). This event will unite thousands of professionals, hundreds of speakers, and dozens of sponsors from the blockchain and Web3 ecosystems.
So What about London makes it the ideal location for hosting?
London: A hub for business and commerce
London has a long history as a hub for business and commerce, and for good reason.
Marchant observes that Bitcoin SV (BSV) and the wider blockchain industry have evolved to become a far more serious industry that works within existing structures and seeks to address specific, real-world problems.
“London is one of the best cities in the world to do business, to recruit talent, to raise investment, etc., and therefore, by extension, is one of the best locations in the world to be building a business that leverages the power of the blockchain,”
James Marchant
Also, Marchant notes that London has a favourable investment environment for startups, particularly with the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS), which allows U.K. investors to reclaim 50% of investments in eligible startups.
Supporting founders and building startups on Bitcoin
Block Dojo is a startup incubator specializing in developing Bitcoin-based businesses. The incubator also provides mentorship, funding, resources, and access to a network of experts and partners for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to use blockchain to solve real-world problems.
NChain, a leading Bitcoin research and development company, backs Block Dojo. Block Dojo and nChain both have their headquarters in London.
According to Marchant, this partnership has been a dream, as it allows the incubator to leverage nChain’s intellectual property, expertise, and resources.
Furthermore, Block Dojo runs various initiatives to educate, inform, and inspire entrepreneurs to build on Bitcoin. These include talks and education sessions at hundreds of U.K. universities, masterclasses, discussion groups, and boot camps for executives from corporates in the U.K. and Europe.
Block Dojo also plans to expand internationally, with Dojos in the Philippines and Japan over the coming months.
A unique opportunity to connect and learn
The London Blockchain Conference is a unique opportunity for blockchain enthusiasts to connect with the field’s leading experts, innovators, and visionaries.
The conference will feature keynotes, panel discussions, and case studies exploring the practical applications of blockchain utility in various sectors.
For instance, legal, retail, financial services, healthcare, insurance, energy, music, government, and real estate industries.
Marchant says he looks forward to welcoming everyone to London for the conference.
