Sam Altman, CEO of COpenAI and inventor of ChatGPT, will launch his planned cryptocurrency “Worldcoin” on July 24.
On Monday, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will launch his Woldcoin cryptocurrency. According to a report citing sources with knowledge of the situation, the distribution plan for Worldcoin tokens will also be made public today, following his earlier disclosure of its tokenomics.
Worldcoin is a biometric iris-based cryptocurrency. In addition, it contains the World ID system, the iris-scanning Orb, and the Wold App wallet. Sam Altman, co-founder of Worldcoin, believes that the company’s iris-scanning AI’s privacy concerns will diminish when the code is made open-source. Several experts have voiced privacy and security concerns about the project.

Tools for Humanity, the technology company behind Woldcoin, declined to mention the launch or provide additional information. OKX has launched a Worldcoin (WLD) recharge page that supports ERC20 and Optimism.
Blockchain Capital contributed $115 million to the Series C funding round of the company. A16z, Bain Capital Crypto, and Distributed Global are also investors. The company raised $100 million at a $3 billion valuation in March last year.
According to data from Arkham Intelligence, 1 billion Worldcoin tokens have been issued. Worldcoin’s contract address is 0x163f8C2467924be0ae7B5347228CABF260318753. .
A portion of the total WLD tokens were sent to the deposit locations of OKX and Bybit. Currently, six wallet addresses possess more than 95% of WLD.
