Coinbase Wallet users will be able to view their NFT collections directly on their web browsers. In the near future, Coinbase is also likely to unveil an NFT marketplace to compete with OpenSea.
Owners of NFTs can access their collection through Coinbase
On Tuesday, Coinbase revealed that NFT owners will soon be able to access their collections directly in their web browsers, a feature that the company is touting as part of its drive to lessen the friction consumers encounter when exploring the larger world of crypto.
The browser extension is a component of Coinbase Wallet, which is distinct from the company’s main trading platform. Wallet, like its prominent counterpart, MetaMask, is intended to provide users with access to NFTs, DeFi applications, and other aspects of the growing world of Web3.
Both MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet began as mobile applications but have since developed to be available as browser extensions.
Coinbase executive Sid Coelho-Prabhu said in a blog post that the new NFT viewing capability will be available in Wallet in the coming days and that users need to alter their Chrome browser settings to accommodate it.
“Soon, users will be able to examine their NFT collection from within the Coinbase Wallet extension, readily see the properties of their NFTs, and conveniently access popular NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea,” Coelho-Prabhu stated.

Coinbase is set to compete with OpenSea
According to the unveiling of the browser, Coinbase is preparing to create an NFT marketplace to compete with industry leader OpenSea. Although it promised in October that it would be available by the end of the year, Coinbase has yet to reveal the marketplace, which it claims would incorporate social networking elements.
Meanwhile, Coelho-Prabhu used the blog post to promote another Wallet feature that allows users to keep track of the rising number of networks where their tokens may be stored.
“Coinbase Wallet now displays your token balances across all supported networks in a consolidated view. Wallet will display tokens on the Arbitrum, Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom, Optimism, Polygon, and xdai networks, in addition to assets on the Ethereum mainnet “He penned.
