Tim Beiko of the Ethereum Foundation reports that the activation of the Dencun upgrade is slated to occur at slot number 8626176 on March 13, 2024. Moreover, Beiko declared on X that blob transactions and transient storage will be implemented via this feature.
The primary purpose of these structures is to decrease rollup expenses on the Ethereum mainnet. This is accomplished by off-chain compressing transaction data, reducing the storage and processing resources requirement.
