Rosie Rios, the former United States Treasurer, recently posted a tweet praising the utility of XRP.
Rios claims in her tweet that the Ripple-affiliated digital currency is used for cross-border payments, which she believes distinguishes it from other digital currencies that are primarily used for speculation.
The former Treasury Secretary, whose name is on billions of dollars in circulation, believes that China’s most severe cryptocurrency ban to date is intended to emphasize the difference.
