Lummis responded to a question concerning Bitcoin’s sudden price dip by saying:
“I’m really excited about it because as soon as it drops a little more, I’m going to buy some more.”
Lummis compared Bitcoin’s decline to the performance of United Rentals, one of her favorite investments. Lummis stated of United Rentals, “I bought it and it dropped like a rock.” I kept it and, my gosh, it’s done a fantastic job for me through the years,” she remarked, adding:
“I see Bitcoin doing the same kind of thing because the fundamentals are good.”
In the United States Senate, Lummis is one of the most outspoken proponents of Bitcoin.
She founded the Financial Innovation Caucus earlier this year in order to educate her colleagues about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Lummis stated at the time that she would work with the caucus to dispel myths about cryptocurrencies, such as their links to money laundering and other financial crimes.
Senator Lummis spoke at this year’s Bitcoin 2021 conference in Miami, according to Cointelegraph, about the need of fostering crypto innovation.
In a panel titled “Bringing Bitcoin Innovation Home to America,” she was joined by Representative Warren Davidson, a Republican from Ohio.
