Microsoft AI System Faces Criticism
According to CNN, a Microsoft employee delivered a letter to the US Federal Trade Commission on Wednesday, which cautions that the company’s artificial intelligence systems may generate detrimental imagery, specifically sexualized images of women.
However, Shane Jones, the primary software engineering lead, claims that Microsoft’s AI text-to-image generator Copilot Designer has “systemic issues” that allow it to consistently generate potentially offensive or unpleasant visuals, such as sexualized images of women.
Additionally, Jones objects to the company’s claim that the product is safe, even for young users.
