TopBuilder is a hackathon that challenges participants to build projects related to Bitcoin and Lightning, such as wallets, protocols, applications, games, and more. The hackathon will run from January 13th, 2024, until March 14th, 2024, and will consist of three rounds of evaluation based on the milestones set by the teams at the start of each round.
The hackathon is open to anyone interested in Bitcoin and Lightning, regardless of their skill level, location, or background. You can participate individually or as a team of up to four members.
TopBuilder is not only a competition but also a learning opportunity. You will get to interact with other builders, learn from experts, and receive feedback on your projects. You will also get access to workshops, webinars, and speaker panels on various topics related to Bitcoin and Lightning, such as security, privacy, scalability, usability, and more.
Moreover, you will have a chance to win prizes in Bitcoin for your projects. The first-place winner will receive $15K in Bitcoin; the second-place winner will receive $10K in Bitcoin, and the third-place winner will receive $5K in Bitcoin. There will also be special prizes for the best projects in each category, such as the most innovative, the most user-friendly, the most impactful, and the most fun.
The judges for TopBuilder are some of the most prominent and respected figures in the Bitcoin and Lightning space. They include:
- Lisa Neigut, founder of Base58 and the Bitcoin++ Conference, a developer conference for Bitcoin and Lightning.
- Kelly Brewster, CEO of Wolf, a Bitcoin startup accelerator based in New York.
- Jameson Lopp, CTO of Casa, a company that provides secure and easy-to-use Bitcoin and Lightning solutions.
- Elizabeth Stark, co-founder and CEO of Lightning Labs, a company that develops the Lightning Network, a layer-two protocol for fast and cheap Bitcoin transactions.
