The decentralized identity solution known as Polygon ID has been released as open-source software by Polygon.
The Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution, has successfully released the open-source version of Polygon ID, its decentralized identity solution, enabling users can access a number of significant features.
It will be noted that Polygon ID’s initial version went live in March of last year, with the company promoting it as a solution that enables customers to instantly verify their identities or pass know-your-customer (KYC) protocols without having to reveal their personal information or sensitive data.
Wallet SDK (for wallet builders), Issuer Node (for issuers), Verifier SDK (for verifiers), and Wallet App (for users) are the four additional tools added by the newly open-sourced Polygon ID to the current solution for Web3 dApp developers and users (for devs and end users).
The project has been one of the most popular ethereum layer-2 scaling solutions since its launch in 2017, despite firing 20% of its staff in February due to unfavorable market conditions. Since then, it has drawn countless adopters from a variety of Web3 economy sectors.
The non-fungible tokens (NFTs) exchange Rarible launched on the Polygon chain in January, enabling its users to create digital collectibles with a Polygon foundation.
And in February, Shemaroo, a powerhouse in Indian media and entertainment, hired the blockchain platform to build Virtasy.io, an NFT marketplace. According to Coingecko, the price of Polygon’s native MATIC token is now down 2.9% over the past 24 hours and is circling at $1.22.
