River, a Bitcoin technology and financial services company has raised $35 million in a Series B funding round led by Kingsway Capital, with participation from billionaire investor Peter Thiel and others.
The company offers a suite of Bitcoin services for individuals and businesses, including a brokerage that provides:
- Zero-fee dollar-cost averaging
- Mining
- Full-reserve custody
- A wallet for on-chain and Lightning Network transactions
This Bitcoin scaling solution settles transactions off-chain for faster speeds and lower fees.
Companies can connect their applications to the Lightning Network with Riverās API, which El Salvadorās Chivo Wallet and other platforms use.
Alex Leishman, CEO of River, stated that the funding would enable the company to extend its services and reach more customers seeking an alternative to the traditional financial system.
āThese bank failures and bailouts have been a reminder of why Bitcoin is so important,ā he said. āItās a secure path to a fairer, more equal, and transparent global economy.ā
River was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. In 2021, the company raised $12 million in a Series A round.
Other investors in the Series B round included Cygni, Goldcrest, and Valor Equity Partners.
