As the world throws the weight of support behind Ukraine, Polkadot founder, Gavin Woods pledges support of $5 million DOT to Ukraine.
On Tuesday, Ukraine added to its cryptocurrency fundraising efforts by launching a Polkadot wallet.
The action comes after Polkadot CEO Gavin Wood offered a $5 million donation to the Department of Transportation.
According to on-chain data, Ukraine has received about $186,000 in DOT so far.
In response to Wood’s request to open a Polkadot wallet to collect DOT donations, Ukraine tweeted, “An airdrop has not been confirmed yet.” An ‘airdrop,’ as it is known in the crypto world, is the distribution of free tokens by a project’s founder.
So far, the country has received over $20 million in cryptocurrency donations, with Binance providing $10 million and industry leaders Sam Bankman-Fried and Deepak Thapliyal both making significant contributions.

According to Elliptic, a digital asset analysis organization, there have been over 24,000 digital asset donations since the Russian invasion began. One Bitcoin tycoon alone contributed $3 million.
According to CoinGecko, DOT is presently trading at $18.70, up 10% on the day as the crypto market continues to surge.
