Dhairya discovered a contract that was designed to emit malicious events while concealing the sender and recipient’s identities. As a result, it was possible to link the cryptocurrency to well-known wallets.

According to the developer, such a trick could be used for either clever marketing or to defraud potential victims. Fraudsters frequently use the ERC20 approval function to steal money from other users using sham tokens.

Dhairya has urged Shiba Inu users to keep track of official announcements in order to avoid falling victim to dubious scams in the aforementioned blog post.

Shiba Inu Targeted By Con Artists

Following the Shiba Inu’s meteoric rise in popularity last year, a slew of con artists attempted to cash in. The team of developers behind the viral meme token warned investors last November that they were being targeted by scammers.

They emphasized that the team does not provide any giveaways, gifts, or airdopros, so such offers are a major red flag.

PeckShield, a blockchain security firm, discovered a fake Shiba Inu token purportedly issued on the Tron blockchain in February. The bogus cryptocurrency was a honeypot scam, which meant that its smart contract contained a mechanism that prevented buyers from selling.
