Sky Mavis, the company behind the popular play-to-earn game Axie Infinity, announced on Wednesday that it has received $150 million in a round sponsored by Binance to compensate users for funds lost in the $625 million Ronin attack.
A16z, Dialectic, Paradigm, and Accel were among the investors in the round. Validator nodes on the company’s Ronin network and on Axie DAO were compromised on March 23, according to the company. The attacker was able to take a total of 173,600 ether (ETH) and 25.5 million USDC by forging fraudulent withdrawals from the Ronin bridge using compromised private keys in two transactions.
The next round, as well as the balance sheets of Sky Mavis and Axie Infinity, will ensure that affected users are compensated, according to the game company.
Binance also announced on Wednesday that deposits and withdrawals of ether and USDC on the Ronin Network have been restored.
