La Picque came to Chiliz from the blockchain platform Covantis. Before that, he started the blockchain consulting company Uncrypted in Geneva.
Chiliz, which owns the blockchain-based sports fan rewards platform Socios.com, named Julian La Picque as its chief financial officer (CFO).

Chiliz said Thursday that the appointment will help the company “continue its mission to deliver gamified Web3-ready engagement and rewards communities for the world’s biggest sports properties.”
Chiliz got permission from the government to do business in Italy last month. This means that it can now offer virtual currencies and digital wallets. The big Italian soccer teams Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli, and AS Roma have all listed fan tokens on Socios.
Socios lets sports teams sell tokens to their fans that give them access to VIP experiences and let them vote on small things about how the clubs are run.
Chiliz recently spent $100 million to buy 24.5% of Barca Studios, the part of FC Barcelona that makes digital content.
