Stepn, a move-to-earn game based on the Solana blockchain, is going social with the StepN Go application, where users can share their digital sneakers with friends and split the earnings.
The gaming and development studio responsible for the Stepn game, FSL, unveiled Stepn Go on May 23. This new social lifestyle application incentivizes daily physical activity and social interactions.
Stepn Go enables users to distribute their digital sneakers to family and acquaintances new to the application and divide the profits.
In addition to enabling essential social functions such as friend addition, messaging, avatar customization, and additional gameplay options, the application grants users the opportunity to accumulate GMT rewards.
Implementing a novel token, the Go Gaming Token (GGT), is essential for functioning the new Stepn Go game. The acquisition of the new GGT token is comparable to that of the Green Satoshi Token (GST), a utility token for Stepn, using digital sneakers while walking, jogging, or running.
Unveiled in 2021, the initial Stepn application is a pioneer of gamified Web3 fitness applications and one of the giant move-to-earn games in the world.
The game utilizes a dual token system, with GST as the perpetual supply utility token. The Green Metaverse Token (GMT), or Stepn’s governance token, is the second token.
Yawn Rong, co-founder of FSL, asserts that since the app’s infancy, members of the Stepn community have requested social function integration.
“Therefore, we’re so excited to reveal these new features, which will propel Stepn Go into mainstream adoption. In addition to the Haus Mechanism and Interactive Map, we will implement player-versus-player elements within the app,” Rong said.
Coinciding with an upsurge in cryptocurrency valuations, the GameFi (DeFi) sector, which merges the domains of gaming and decentralized finance, has recovered due to a significant decline in 2022 and 2023. The number of daily active purses in GameFi has doubled in the past year.
StepN has also increased its activity recently, collaborating with Adidas, a German athletic apparel manufacturer, to distribute 1,000 Genesis Edition nonfungible tokens (NFTs) for Solana in April. Before this, StepN rewarded its primary players with an airdrop of 100 million FSL points, valued at approximately $30 million.
