The United States Attorney’s Office is opposed to a petition from Ryan Salame, the former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, to nullify his guilty plea as part of charges related to campaign finance violations.

Prosecutors stated in an August 26 filing in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York that they would oppose a petition submitted by Salame’s legal team in writing by September 4.

The counsel of the former FTX executive submitted a petition for a writ of error coram nobis in an effort to have the court reverse Salame’s plea agreement, which led to a 7.5-year prison sentence.

Salame alleged that prosecutors suggested during his plea negotiations that they would not pursue an investigation into his companion, Michelle Bond.

On August 22, authorities unsealed an indictment against Bond for breaking campaign finance laws in connection with her bid for a seat in the US House of Representatives in 2022.

“Salame’s petition is premised on the (demonstrably false) allegation that he was induced to plead guilty based on representations by the Government that in exchange for pleading guilty, the Government would cease investigating Bond for conspiring with Salame to commit criminal campaign finance violations,” said the filing.
